Hello everyone! I just wanted to share a few pictures with you to get myself up to date with this blog. There are a few things I have yet to do with this PC build, but they’re minor additions. In the meantime, here’s what I’ve built so far:
Normally, I was considering using this as my new default PC for working on creative content. However, when trying to render a five-second video clip, the CPU temperature shot up in the 90 degree Celsius range, which is the maximum rated temperature for that CPU. Right now, I just have the stock cooler for the AMD Ryzen 5.
I looked up better coolers for it, but to install it would mean abandoning the entire NES form factor and buying a brand new case, because the cooler is just too big.
So, as it stands, I have only three things to do to this computer in order for me to declare this project complete:
- Install the wooden motherboard standoffs
- Create, or buy, a dock for the hard drive
- Add Velcro to the Wi-Fi antenna
Now, none of these are required if I am to just leave the computer right where it is. However, if I wanted to travel with it, it needs to be more secure than it is right now. Finishing those three items would definitely do it. Now, it all depends on how much time I have with work and other projects. 🙂
